Homemade Beauty Treatments

So, last night I decided to look up homemade beauty treatments. And, boy, did I find some! People sure can put some odd things on their bodies! Making things at home are not only frugal, but can be healthier for you. Basically, you shouldn't put anything on your skin that you wouldn't put in your body since your skin absorbs what you put on it. I will share with you some of the best ideas that I found. To start with, acne. I don't know about you, but I STILL have a problem with acne...even at the age of 32! There are several things that work double duty for acne and wrinkles, and that is great for me! To start with, my favorite thing to use it straight up lemon juice! It is the cheapest 'acid peel' you could ever get! I like to [try] to give myself an herbal steam facial once a week (boil water and an herbal tea bag, lean over pot of steaming water and drape a towel over your head for 15 minutes). Then once either just wipe lemon juice (juice a lemon and freeze the juice in small ice cube trays-I have a heart shaped one that I found at Target on Valentine's Day-then take out of the tray and place in freezer bag and keep in freezer) on your face and sleep with it or make a facial treatment containing lemon juice. A good one is to mix an egg white with honey and lemon juice. Put on your face and leave on for 15-20 minutes. The egg white tightens your skin and the lemon juice astc as an 'acid peel' to combat acne and wrinkle! Witch Hazel is great, too! It is something I swear by for my skin! Just wipe some over your skin using a cotton ball after washing your face. Some other great things are tomato juice, baking soda & water mixed, and honey and glycerin on your face overnight. For blackheads the steam facial works well, too, as well as lime juice mixed with cinnamon.
Now for hair...I have dark brown hair so I like to out strong brewed coffee on it once a week and leave it on for 20 minutes. It makes my hair a shinier, brighter shade of chestnut brown!Olive oil is great for your hair, too. Just warm it a bit and rub all over your hair once a week then sleep with a showercap over it. For that matter, olive oil is great for your skin. Once a month, after shaving, rub some over your entire body, even face. It will help your skin absorb moisture better! I love to use it on my cuticles and feet and hands before bed. I keep a bottle of it on my night table. To get shiny hair you can also make a rinse using 2 beaten egg yolks and 1/2 cup water. Leave it onyour head for 5 minutes then rinse with water and follow with 2t. apple cider vinegar mixed with water. Works Great!

There you have it, my home beauty treatments! I like to do them myself at home while I watch a movie or read a book after all 6 kids go to bed. I even do my own pedicures! Now, if only I could give myself a massage...
